"for God loveth a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7
A few weeks ago I posted about Operation Christmas Child that is coordinated by Samaritan's Purse. This ministry distributes shoe boxes filled with goodies to children all around the world. The deadline is drawing near for turning in filled shoe boxes and I wanted to send a friendly reminder and encourage you to participate in this ministry.
Our family put together some boxes this year. Bart and I took the kids to Wal-Mart and let them shop for the toys and other items with us. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to talk with our children about the importance of giving to others. Our girls are still too young to grasp the concept, but Luke understood and was so excited to be buying toys for "the other little boy".
Luke's enthusiasm made me think about the verse in 2 Corinthians that mentions how God loves a cheerful giver. Luke was a cheerful giver last night. He is only three years old, but he was so excited to give another child he didn't know a box of Christmas goodies!
Let your cheerful giving spirit shine as well!

Luke sounds like JP...he also likes going to WalMart to shop for a child's shoebox items. He usually comes home with a baseball and cap, tennis balls, toy cars, toothbrush and paste and candy!
ReplyDeleteWow! Sounds just like our boy box. Luke picked out a truck, dinosaur, and playdough. Those were the fun items he chose. Some other essentials we included were toothpaste, toothbrush, candy, crayons, socks, and bar soap.
ReplyDeleteI love how Operation Christmas Child's website lists recommended items. That helped us fill our boxes.
Our GA's went to the dollar store and did 6 shoeboxes. What a fun evening. They were definitely cheerful givers!! This is Nichole. I am using Isabelle's google account.
