Jabez's Prayer

"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.' And God granted his request." 1 Chronicles 4:10

Did you noticed that the words"God granted his request" are at the very end of this verse?

Now look at this verse:

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7

Jesus spoke these words that are recorded in Matthew 7:7. -- Jabez's prayer is a good example of asking for God's will in our lives, and the Lord answering our prayer. We can't read verses like these and start praying for anything and everything just because God has promised to grant our requests. God is not a fairy godmother that is granting wishes. He wants to pour out blessings into our lives when our requests align with His perfect will for our lives. When we start praying how the Holy Spirit leads us, and not just how we want things to go, we better watch out, because our requests are going to be granted. That is God's promise to us many times in the Bible!
