The Purpose

Everything needs a purpose, or what's the point? "First Thing..." has a purpose to start the day focusing on Christ and Biblical principles. The Bible mentions seeking God in the morning time. (Now, don't get me wrong, we need to seek God during the whole day!) But there is something special about the morning time.

"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation" Psalm 5:3

When we first wake up we are starting a fresh new day. We have to make a choice of whether we will seek God first, or fit God into our schedule when it is convenient for us. I honestly think that if we try to fit God into our schedule we will not make time for Him. Since God is the most important part of our life we need to structure our schedule around Him.

Let's use our first moments in the morning to seek the Lord and give our day to Him. Starting the day this way is much more proactive than the alternative. The alternative involves not seeking God, operating outside His will, and having to do damage control throughout the day. I heard a speaker once say that, "Your worst day with Christ is much better than your best day without Him!"
